Director’s message

Great to be back in KL after a wonderful 2 months working from beautiful Warrnambool that turned on such amazing weather, it was really difficult to leave. It was fabulous to have the time with my family after so long, and to meet new members of the family. I had a productive week in Melbourne reconnecting with partners and meeting new team members, all of which provides the impetus for scaling back up operations.

Now, back to the heat and working towards mid-year internships, both remote and IN-PERSON, finally. It's wonderful to have a couple of partners loosen the reins and encourage students to start travelling (in small numbers, but never-the-less, very exciting!) We're also loving the opportunity to once again assist with NCP Mobility grant bids, especially for students on rural campuses. We'd love to be able to provide increased opportunities for these students as we firmly believe Malaysia provides the ‘softest landing’ into Asia for students who may be first-in-family to university or have never travelled before. Cheap, close, and English is widely spoken!

Thus it is also timely to receive the IEAA Learning Abroad White

Paper which affirms the importance of learning abroad as one of the most important experiences a student can access during their undergraduate study. Also pleasing is the acknowledgement of the value that TPP’s offer as service providers, particularly in an environment where universities are trying to return to scale in outbound numbers. Hope to see many of you at the IEAA Launch of the paper on May 17.

Until next month, take care, stay warm and do get in touch if you need any advice on programs in SE Asia!

A must read for LA professionals - White Paper

"Global research now firmly establishes learning abroad as one of the most important experiences a student can access during their undergraduate study.

This White Paper takes an evidence-based approach to six key outcomes of learning abroad." - IEAA

IEAA Learning Abroad Forum

We are really looking forward to the IEAA Learning Abroad Forum to be held in Melbourne on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August 2022. How wonderful to finally be getting together with everyone after such a long hiatus. We will also participate in the Learning Abroad Exchange Circuit where we can, so please reach out if you would like us to attend or even to just meet with mobility teams or other parts of the university that could use an understanding of how our programs work.

Malaysia has eyes on the NCP prize

It's great to see Malaysia in the Financial Review, as the Education Management Services Team rev up interest in trying to attract short-term students to our shores. TGS has relationships with all the major providers and is happy to provide advice for those wanting to reinvigorate old partnerships or create new ones. Our extensive experience working in the market can help navigate some of the cultural issues that institutions may encounter. Jan is happy to jump on a no-obligation call!
