Internship Hosting

Internships are now being offered in-person again, but we are still offering remote opportunities

Some take on an intern, or even a team of interns, to conduct research and feasibility studies. Others seek interns with specialized skills to work on tasks for which the company has little experience. While many need extra hands to work on specific projects and events.

We aim to ensure that the experience is mutually beneficial for both the intern and host. So that the student leaves with a better knowledge base than when they arrived and the host has been able to achieve workplace outcomes.

Why do companies hire interns?

What’s in it for you?

  • Extra employee to help with short-term projects

We are excited to introduce our new interview series, offering an insider’s perspective on what it’s like to host interns and the benefits of participating in our program.

Host obligations include:

  • Treating the students as an employee of the business during their internship.

  • Providing a substantive project for them to work on during their internship.

  • A provision of desk space and access to workplace resources according to their respective roles for them to efficiently perform job functions.

  • Exposing students to activities such as site visits, meetings, dinners, or other forms of engagement with external stakeholders when appropriate or applicable.

  • Appointing a dedicated mentor or coordinator to assist with their assimilation into the workplace, to help them understand organisational behaviour and as well as the local culture.

Host testimonials

  • Nordin Abdullah

    Glenreagh Sdn Bhd

“The value that The Global Student adds to the program and by extension the employers that take on these students is seen in the effort taken in screening and matching with organisations like ours. As such we have been able to put these students in real life situation working on projects as team members with our staff. This is testimony to the process that happens long before the student arrives.”

  • Geetha Kandiah

“The students are able to really think outside the square with the tasks designated to them and their willingness to contribute to the company and put their learnings to use in the workplace is a credit to themselves, their universities and The Global Student.”

  • Dobby Chew

    Former Program Manager, SUARAM

“We have worked with TGS for years on our internship program because the interns placed by TGS has proved to be better matched than the interns we would otherwise get on our own. With the longstanding partnership builds an alumnus of TGS-SUARAM interns that has passed and shared opinions and thoughts on the organisation and what we do so those placed with us already have a clear idea what to expect and they to do.”
