Internship Hosting
Internships are now being offered in-person again, but we are still offering remote opportunities
Some take on an intern, or even a team of interns, to conduct research and feasibility studies. Others seek interns with specialized skills to work on tasks for which the company has little experience. While many need extra hands to work on specific projects and events.
We aim to ensure that the experience is mutually beneficial for both the intern and host. So that the student leaves with a better knowledge base than when they arrived and the host has been able to achieve workplace outcomes.
Why do companies hire interns?
What’s in it for you?

We are excited to introduce our new interview series, offering an insider’s perspective on what it’s like to host interns and the benefits of participating in our program.
Host obligations include:
Treating the students as an employee of the business during their internship.
Providing a substantive project for them to work on during their internship.
A provision of desk space and access to workplace resources according to their respective roles for them to efficiently perform job functions.
Exposing students to activities such as site visits, meetings, dinners, or other forms of engagement with external stakeholders when appropriate or applicable.
Appointing a dedicated mentor or coordinator to assist with their assimilation into the workplace, to help them understand organisational behaviour and as well as the local culture.
Host testimonials

Nordin Abdullah
Glenreagh Sdn Bhd
“The value that The Global Student adds to the program and by extension the employers that take on these students is seen in the effort taken in screening and matching with organisations like ours. As such we have been able to put these students in real life situation working on projects as team members with our staff. This is testimony to the process that happens long before the student arrives.”

Geetha Kandiah
KASS International, Malaysia
“The students are able to really think outside the square with the tasks designated to them and their willingness to contribute to the company and put their learnings to use in the workplace is a credit to themselves, their universities and The Global Student.”

HL Architecture, Director
“A simple word to describe the internship is immersion. When interns join, they are thrown into the den and they will very quickly find peers in their own groups. We’re a small office, so I would say we are a family— so it’s very easy for new staff, and interns, to join us and learn.” -
Chan Li Jin
PhAMA, Executive Director
“[The intern] was able to bring in a lot of Australian expertise into our organisation. We here in Malaysia function on a very local scale, and [the intern] was able to show us how the Australian Pharmaceutical Association functioned. Having international interns working with us raised our profile in having international and global assistance here, and the support that we are getting from the international community.”
