Volunteer in Malaysia
Overview
Local and international NGO’s welcome students individually or for group projects that can make a difference to not only the people they serve, but the organisation itself. NGO’s run on limited funds and are always seeking volunteers that bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm, not to mention much needed discipline specific skills.
In the past, volunteers have commonly been from the fields of international relations, law, politics, community development and international studies, or health practitioners, however NGO’s also require business, marketing and communications majors, web developers and information systems students, and teachers..
Volunteer in Vietnam
.
TGS works with our partner Volunteer Vietnam to support the disadvantaged and abandoned adults and children of Da Nang and the Mekong Delta. As Vietnam continues to prosper, and the regions are becoming more developed, many people fall between the cracks.
With a population of almost 100 million people and only a third in urban centers, many are reliant on agriculture, fishing, and farming for their livelihoods. As parents move from rural to urban centers to take advantage of work opportunities, children are often left in the care of the elderly or other group homes that support them while they attend local schools, creating a burden for provincial governments.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those looking to contribute on a holistic level, as well as gain some experience in their chosen academic fields. VV provides an inclusive program of support for volunteers including accommodation and meals, training in the needs of the clients they service, and an incredible cultural experience. And your weekends are free to explore the rich and powerful history and culture (and of course the food) of this amazing country!
*Before you travel you will need to provide a working with children check.
